The Minister of Health welcomes an innovative surgical mission at the Mother and Child University Hospital

The Minister of Public Health and Prevention visits the Mother and Child University Hospital

The Minister of Public Health and Prevention, Dr Abdelmadjid Abderahim, carried out, this Monday, April 13, 2026, a visit to encourage the joint mission led by the Mother and Child University Hospital Center and the “Solidarity Surgery”organization, within the CHU-ME.

Accompanied by the secretary general of the ministry, the deputy director general of the establishment as well as the director of gyneco-obstetrics, the minister praised the quality of the work accomplished by the mission teams and the Chadian surgeons.

In his speech, he highlighted the importance of such initiatives to strengthening the national health system. He particularly highlighted the contribution of minimally invasive surgery, in particular laparoscopy, which improves patient care while reducing risks and complications. The minister also insisted on the need to extend these skills transfer missions to the provinces, in order to sustainably consolidate the capabilities of local teams on a national scale.

For his part, Dr Patrick Leblanc, gynecological surgeon and member of the organization “Solidarity Surgery”, welcomed the collaboration with Chadian professionals. He praised their commitment and motivation, while recalling that the main objective of the mission is to share the skills and enable local teams to achieve complete autonomy in laparoscopic surgery.

It should be remembered that this laparoscopy campaign began on Tuesday April 7 and continues until Thursday April 16, 2026.
